“Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!”
In my last post, “Christ ascends and we are there!” you had the chance to see through the Lord’s eyes, to experience what I believe clearly is what He experienced and at what point in His resurrected life He did so.
Most of us had one time in mind where Jesus ascends, taken up so to speak, into the clouds until out of observer’s sight. That time was after Jesus appeared by walking through the door where the disciples were hiding and after meeting them by the shore with a fresh breakfast waiting, after several hundred people saw Him and after dead people were resurrecting from their graves.
In His final appearance Jesus tells His followers to stay in Jerusalem and wait to be endued with power from on high. He has said earlier that “another” will come to lead us and guide us to “all truth.”
Loved ones, “all truth” is what I always wish to share with you. God is a forward moving God. What I share I share as a fellow recipient. I am excited to share. But make no mistake, I do this to glorify Him, through the eyes and heart of a person that should have been dead several times but was spared; I believe for such a time as this. We are in such desperate need of faith and even more, the understanding that expands our faith to the point of obedience.
Luke 24:50-53 (NASB)
”And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.
51 While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven.
52 And they, after worshiping Him, returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
53 and were continually in the temple praising God.”
Another prophetic vision that Jesus understood, speaking of what we now know is His final ascent, is noted below. This happens and Jesus remains then in heaven (generally) before He returns to rescue His beloved church and establish His earthly kingdom. Jesus did visit Paul on the road to Damascus.
Daniel 7:13-14 (NASB77)
“I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him.
14 “And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations, and men of every language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.”
Remember, Jesus ascended in the clouds, as it says. He did so as the Son of Man. There is no mention of dirty garments this time. No need. He is presented before the Father, the Ancient of Days, (see Daniel 7:9 amazing)
Jesus is not asked about His loyalty this time. No need, it was done at His first ascension as noted in scripture and my last post. Even though Jesus has returned to His beloved disciples, it was not a temptation to stay for Jesus. He took care of business and then departed. What business?
Luke 24:49 (NASB)
49 “And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” It is believed they waited in the Temple at Solomon’s Porch. An area big enough to hold 120 people.
Loved ones there are many truths to be revealed, most are folded neatly into what Jesus said or what a prophet said. They are meant to take us further than we can get without them. They are to improve or expand our faith to a new level of obedience. It is the kind of obedience that brings a joy unspeakable to our hearts and to the heart of God! I am ready for as much of this “all truth” as God will allow. Somehow I think that is up to us.
“If we remain in His grip, how far from His heart can we be!”
