Dear loved ones,
In reviewing the movie, “Killing Jesus” I referred to Peter being “presented” as the rock the church was to be built on. As you know this is the doctrine of the Catholic Church.
I have not received any criticism of my comments regarding this but the Lord has put it on my heart to apologize to all who might have found my comments regarding Bill O’Riley or the Peter / Pope doctrine, to be offensive, be they Catholic or not. I apologize sincerely. Please forgive me.
Every denomination needs leadership. The office of the Pope, for centuries, has led the people of his denomination. They trust in God’s ordination just as others in other denominations do their leaders. Respect is a seed bearing fruit we all desire. We seek it, we expect it, from where we have sown it. Just as God does.
We all are looking for the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Those without any particular denominational association, if claiming Christ as Lord, are to be following the same leadership we all should be following, without regard to our rank or leadership position or denomination. Christ is our king and His Ways are to be our Ways if we expect entrance to the kingdom of God.
Unfortunately, differences of interpretation of the Word of God continue to provide rationalized borders between God’s children where none were ever intended to be. To myself and to the Pope, I believe, Christ Jesus must be our focal point. What He did for us and what He taught us to do, if received and implemented from our hearts, will save us. Paul points to this in Romans 5:10. Look it up.
Because of Christ’s Words to us, I have come to believe that “forgiveness,” both received and granted, will be the one doctrine that will unify the church world-wide. This IS the Spirit of Christ and therefore of our Heavenly Father. This IS the good news of the kingdom, as it prevails in us over every offense and harm; as it covers a multitude of sins, it also covers all of us with the same blanket. Under forgiveness, we are one with Him.
“Forgiveness” is received in thankfulness and granted in grace by the empowering remembrance of our own original need and our beloved Source. There is an abundance of grace if we will receive it and righteousness comes with it as a gift. (Romans 5:17 NASB, NKJV)
When bi-directional, forgiveness is grace reigning, through righteousness, to eternal life, through Christ Jesus. (Romans 5:21 NASB, NKJV)
Let us seek this universal salve, this Balm of Gilead that soothes the sin sick soul. Let us forgive anybody for anything, let us forgive ourselves as well, or will we continue to deny the healing promises of our Lord, bent on harming ourselves?
We cannot be “in” Christ and not forgive and forget the repentant heart that comes to us or from us to Him. Our peace is found there. Jesus has said, our eternal life depends on it!
There is a peace that passes all understanding. It will guard our hearts and our souls. My wife Janis knew this. She walked in it from early times in our marriage. She walked in unconditional love toward myself, her son, her daughter, her own father, her ex-husband, her in-laws, her out-laws, toward ANYONE! WHY? It was Christ in her, the Hope of Glory. It was a merciful heart, dedicated to reconciliation. Even in her dying days, she fully knew the precious relief and peace of forgiving all. We all should learn from this beautiful example of Christ.
Let the church world-wide embrace this tie that binds us together. We will need to be adept at handling forgiveness, this is a priceless Royal commodity. A good king teaches his child the endearing value of grace where debt exists.
The coming times will demand our understanding. Preparing now is paramount.
You are loved, He waits,
Michael
